Energosbyt+ has launched a system for collecting and consolidating corporate data on customers. The system was developed by Qlever Tech, QlikView software was used as a platform.

Today Energosbyt+ is a single sales center of T Plus Group, which appeared as a result of consolidation of assets and modernization of territorial generating companies. Energosbyt+ has 13 regional branches serving over 3.4 million households and about 120 thousand organizations.

Energosbyt+ uses several accounting systems, the basis of which is billing. In addition to billing, a number of other systems are used, where a large amount of data is processed. These are the systems for settlements with individuals for housing and communal services, accounting of contracts and customer requests, work with debtors.

Before the implementation of the solution developed by Qlever, data on customers were independently processed by each of the branches of Energosbyt+. It was required to combine data from different branches and several accounting systems, which would allow controlling their quality before further use.

As a result of the project, a transparent structure of a corporate data processed by accounting systems was created, and a method that allows to automatically verify information was developed.

The developed solution consists of a set of applications on QlikView platform. The applications are integrated with accounting systems, from which they load information, and business processes for data reconciliation and error correction are created on their basis.

“We operate a lot of accounting systems, a huge amount of data is processed there”, says Gavriil Pogorelov, the developer of the marketing analytics department Energosbyt+, “we needed a tool that would allow us to be sure of what and where is stored, whether all the staff work with the same type of data, what is the source data and what inaccuracies it may contain”.

The system was initiated with a review of actual data and its creation processes. Therefore, data was loaded from the accounting systems first, then it was studied how to avoid inaccuracies. As a result, the rules of data verification were developed.Today, the data analysis takes place “on the fly” during the information loading into QlikView applications that helps to detect inconsistencies and monitor a data quality.

One of the key factors that influenced the choice of QlikView as a platform was that no separate storage system was required to consolidate the information.

The other critical driver was the lower cost of support and scalability of the solution. This comes from the fact that the system architecture is in line with the best practices of the QlikView platform, one of the most prevalent business intelligence tools currently available in the world. The performance of each of the solution components is transparent and documented for the customer.

“The success of BI projects is usually based on the quality of input data”, says Andrey Kharlak, CTO of Qlever Tech, “customers are tempted to start a BI project by focusing on their business needs. But this approach is only suited for small businesses. Larger companies have plenty of accounting systems and branches, they would better start from their data — firstly to deal with the quality of data and then to check what can be done about it. It will reduce project risks and shorten the time of BI-solution development.

In February 2018, the development of the system for consolidation and verification of corporate information was launched. The project included consulting, survey, applications development on the QlikView platform and training of the Energosbyt+ staff on working with the system. Several developers, Qlik architect, Qlever Tech’s analyst and project manager participated in the project team.
